Khanakin Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Named after the Hanaka River, southern slope of the Gissar Range. M.S. Shvetsov, 1927 (505, p. 297). Stratotype along the Hanaka River.
Synonym: Khanakinskaya Suite, Ханакинская св.
Lithology and Thickness
Red-colored sandstones, gravelites, conglomerates, conglomerate-breccias with layers of siltstone (aleurolites), tuffs of rhyolites, tuffites. Thickness is 160m (in Str. sl. (439) - 400-1200m).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It has tectonic or unconformable contacts with underlying formations. Beyond the borders of Uzbekistan, it lies with angular unconformity on the eroded surface of Lower Permian volcanogenic (?) and older formations.
Upper contact
It is overlain with erosion and angular unconformity by the Sandzhar Fm.

In the lower part, Gissarella schamolensis Sixt., Bardella splendida Zal., Ullmannia bronii Goepp, etc. were found, and in the upper part - Pseudovoltzia liebeana (Gein.), Sphenopteridium brickianae Sixt., Araucarites dushanbensis Sixt., etc. V.S. Luchnikov (276)
